About ASRA

ASRA - the Association of Student Radio Alumni - was formed as an informal network of people who were once involved in student radio. It’s there to celebrate the times we spent at our student radio stations and to keep in touch with the people we met there. It also exists as a networking organistation allowing members to meet each other at social events throughout the year. ASRA’s activities are divided into two areas the first is the organisation of social events the second is to encourage and support the creation of site-specific alumni associations. But we can’t do anything if you haven’t told us your email address. Subscribe to our low-volume mailing list here.

ASRA organises events throughout the year, they’re designed to be your station’s alumni events but organised by us! We’ve had events with industry speakers, quiz nights, and comedy evenings (the last one was supported by BBC7). We also arrange smaller events throughout the year around the country, and sometimes have events to sit alongside Student Radio Association events to encourage new members to ASRA.

ASRA is run by a very informal committee. There are no elections, consitutions or rules (we had enough of that when we involved in student radio) we just try to meet occassionally to organise the next event or come up with new ideas. The committee’s very much an open book, if you would like to be more involved, or have a brilliant idea, just drop us an email - asra@studentradioalumni.com.
