About Us
ASRA (the Association of Student Radio Alumni) was formed as an informal network of people who have been involved in student radio. ASRA is a group to keep in touch with people from our times in student radio and also a networking organisation to meet each other and make new connections at a variety of events throughout the year.
ASRA’s activities are divided into three areas, the first is the organisation of social events, the second is to give support the current Student Radio Association and the third is to co-ordinate the judging for the annual Student Radio Awards.
ASRA organises a range of events throughout the year, everything from alumni events at stations, nights with industry speakers to quiz nights, comedy evenings and just simple nights down the pub. You don’t have to be working in the radio industry to get involved – everything we do is open to all alumni of student radio, and we don’t just geek about jingles and stuff either (honest!)
ASRA also supports and works with the Student Radio Association to assist with their events and activities for current students and also to encourage graduates to join ASRA.
ASRA is run by a very informal committee. There are no elections, constitutions or rules. Just a group of ex-student radio people who meet up every now and again for socials and events.
If you want to organise the next event, or come up with new ideas for things to do, then please get in touch. The committee’s very much an open group, if you would like to be more involved, or come along to the next social then just drop us an email from the committee page.
